Exit 29 on I-19 - Santa Gertrudis - FR 4151
Headed down toward Rock Corral and to FR 4816 which dead ends at an old surface mine.
2wd until about 200 feet from the end of the road. There is barely room for my Silverado to turn around.
Headed South up the Creek Bed. Pools of water nothing flowing.
About 150 yards from the truck a path appears and then splits.
Today I took the Path to the Right to a dead end canyon I have been looking at. Lots of cliffs and climbing opportunities here.
The path came and went and eventually disappeared as I entered the narrow canyon.

Fair amount of water trickling down the cliffs.
I managed to make it up about 30 feet and couldn't go up or back down.
Thought of ReddRoxx when I landed in the pool of water at the base lf the cliffs.
A more or less controlled fall/slide.
Tried to find a crack in the cliffs to the East in several places but the rocks were too slippers to climb out. Managed to get up the cliffs with the waterfalls by crisscrossing a serios of ledges that put me out on the West side.
Followed this drainage and found a serios of small pools and falls. I was surprised at how loud the water was given the small amount falling.

From here it got steep and impossible with no path.
Rested a bit in the sun.
Followed a broad shallow wash to a saddle and realized i was on the wrong ridge. There is a path on the ridge to the East of this ridge.
Took a chance and headed back down this new ridge and cliffed out several times.
Ended up back tracking about half an hour to find a break in the cliffs that i could glissade.
Bad fall ended up cutting my knee.

Once in the canyon i headed up the other side to where i knew there was a path.
From there it was an easy jaunt to the truck.

Started at 11:15 and go back to truck 2:30ish

This was a very harsh hike.
Slow MPH because I took advantage of the solitude to empty. AND because I was stuck for a while.
I came back with a lot of catclaw evidence on my shins and wrists.
Even though it was in the low 60s I got over heated going up and used over half a gallon of water.
Found that my egg sandwich had shells in it. Gross. At it anyway.
Steep, slippery, remote. quiet. quiet. quiet
