Went to see the crested Saguaro in the North Goldfield area just south of the Salt River. Very quiet area there and had high hopes of seeing wildlife. ( didn't see any) After getting my gate permit online we proceeded thru the North Bulldog Canyon gate ( wasn't locked ??) and drove south to the power line.

With an old GPS track loaded I didn't think I would have any trouble finding the saguaro, however after getting into the area we just couldn't locate it!! We did find one interesting artifact (photo) that had us baffled.

Giving up the search we started back to the truck and noticed a saguaro very close to our track that was broken off on top and on investigating found the one we were looking for . Unfortunately it's wrecked so our next trip into this area will have to be for a different objective.
