I heard about a grazing allotment for Tortilla Ranch so I went out to see the herd. There is a gate across FR213 (which you can drive through) and lots of cattle off JF trail. Maybe the cattle will keep the catclaw down. FR213 hasn't been improved but if ranchers need to can drive it often, who knows? I hiked just off trail across the ridges and near the Miller mines. I got a late start so only hiked a bit. The clouds kept the heat off so it was nice. I saw a large gopher snake but it crawled into the brush so I didn't get a photo. The traffic down and back wasn't too bad but Tortilla Flat was packed.
