| no partners | | Ok so this is "that arch" thing is my friend has been wanting to find this for like 2-3 years. He even had a pretty good idea where it was and did some work on google maps to get real close. I kept putting it off and he finally said this thing is blowing up on FB and IG we need to go while we can. So we went. We had 4 vehicles because we both knew what the roads would be like. I really didn't think they were as bad as I had heard, we also had a Subaru and GC they weren't really down for doing the the last climb and the option was to pile everyone in the two jeeps that are really 2 seaters. My friend's route he planned hiking up from the bottom. So we Did. We had a wash picked out and headed up. once we go to a high spot it was easily spotted and we went right to it. Its very scenic and impressive. There was a group of 3 people there (we passed a car parked long the road a ways back) they left when we got there. saw two other people just driving by on one of the nearby roads. Also saw a fellow in a van "camping" closer to the hwy. I liked the whole area, its nice out there. We also went on some numbered roads that aren't required but were scenic and found a windmill.
I know this place is a hot topic as more people figure it out, so hopefully I'm not breaking any unwritten rules, but I do know its been on here, It was part of the research. 
Oh yeah the hike up was probably 85% washes, was 1 mile exactly from where we started. Nice little hike. |
