| no partners | | First seven mile hike since heart valve repair in November 2023. Started at the Iron Springs Trailhead and headed north on Javelina Trail #332 to its end at Willow Connector Trail #346, then left to the end of Trail #346 at the Cayuse Trailhead near Granite Lake. After turning around on Trail #346, passed the junction with Javelina Trail, then turned back again when the trail started to go downhill toward Willow Trail #347, so that the total would be nearly seven miles. I should have just turned right when I reached Trail #346, because Willow Connector is a road between the Cayuse Trailhead and Javelina Trail. |

Wildflowers Observation Moderate All along Javelina Trail, there were many plants with small white flowers on 8-12" stems, plus various individual flowering plants on both trails (see photos). South of Granite Basin Road: several spreading plants less than an inch off the ground with lots of very small white flowers, quite a few prairie verbena, and a few plants with yellow or white flowers. North of Granite Basin Road: a few dandelions and a single Indian paintbrush. |
