Since we are in Texas our hiking options are few but on trip to Austin area we stopped off in Pedernales Falls State Park. There are a lot of trails in the park most of them under a mile. We chose to do the Falls trail which is logical since we wanted to see the falls. Way to humid to do much else also we were do back in Lubbock that day. Unless something else comes in this month I can at least say we got 1.1 miles in for June.

Scenic Pedernales River had probably medium flow (not sure what is normal). The falls are more of a series of slides over limestone rock but still pretty impressive. Texas has gotten a lot of rain this year so everything was green. I wouldn't plan a special trip to this area but if in the area worth a stop, hopefully in a bit cooler weather.

On the return to Lubbock we stopped of to see a granite quarry. Texas is a sea of limestone rocks but right smack in the middle is a haven of beautiful pink granite with enormous feldspar crystals (probably more of a pegmatite). Wish I had more time to spend in this area, I can only think of one thing that gets me more excited than an igneous outcrop.
