The drive up to the peak on Hwy 165 from Bernalillo was scenic. Dirt road most of the way but it beat going all the way around Albuquerque and taking the paved road up. You also have to contend with the endless stream of motorcycles racing up the mountain, not so on the dirt road. Once on Sandia Peak we stopped at the overlook that had magnificent views over Albuquerque. The North Crest trail starts at the Sandia Peak overlook and will continue on down the north side of the mountain. We did a 4 mile section of the 10 mile trail. Great views all along the Crest Trail. |
