| no partners | | I hadn't hiked out of the Dreamy Draw TH since it had been reopened. They did a wonderful job with the design on this. It mimics what they did with the Piestewa area.
I started a CCW on the paved East Dreamy Draw Bikeway to the Perl Charles Trail and hit up a few use trails, making my way to the Freedom Trail. I made the climb up the Freedom Trail to the Summit Trail and continued the ascent. I get a kick out of the different skill levels that are making/attempting the climb to the top.
I took a snack break at the summit and dried off in the breeze up top.
Down, down, down, and I continued my CCW loop on the Freedom Trail.
My favorite trail on this loop is the VOAZ. Nice geology, a pleasant track, and a moderate grade.
To finish this off, I headed to the other side of The 51 and took in the Mercury Mine Loop.
Filtered clouds and light breezes kept temperatures perfect for hiking. In the afternoon, the clouds started burning away, and I would get a little warm in the sun, but still very nice. |
