My plan was to arrive early 530-6am and hike up the creek directly as much as possible. I was able to do that for most of the way up. The cooler air and soft light really made the creek so serene and beautiful I didn’t hear or see anyone for most of hike in the beginning.
I wanted to do as many long exposure photography as possible and this place offers a non-stop supply of beautiful scenes. One after the other.
As I got closer to the end, I hopped on the actual trail and started up. I started hearing lots of thunder and a growing set of black clouds heading down from, the rim. I decided to turn around and head back via the trail.
Lots of people hiking up and down as I made my way back down.
The weather at the start was nice. High 60’s but humid. Since I was hiking in the creek going up, it was really pleasant. Once I jumped on the trail, I could feel the heat when the sun made it through the clouds. The looming storm blocked the sun a little, but it was humid.
When I made it back to the trailhead, the parking lot was totally full and there were people parked along the road and at the lower trailhead. My trucks dashboard showed 89 degrees when I left. By the time I hit Star Valley, it was over 100. I could feel the broiler oven the closer I got to the valley.
An awesome day in an awesome place. |
