| no partners | | I wanted to get in a quick hike with a little elevation and some miles, and Pass Mountain Loop always does the trick. I opted to start from the Meridian TH and arrived just after sunrise. There were quite a few vehicles in the parking lot when I arrived. The weather was pleasant.
I did the hike counter-clockwise. The trail is in very good condition. I know this trail gets lots of use, but I have seen it in worse condition. I passed a couple of hikers and got passed by a couple of fast movers. When I made it to the saddle, I came across some other hikers. Looks like they were doing an out and back.
Once I made it past the saddle, I ran into a couple of other groups moving in the opposite direction. I had the trail to myself for most of the hike. The clouds danced around and kept the sun off my head for most of the hike. That was nice.
As I moved around to the west side of the mountain, I ran into some other hikers and a few mountain bikers. I was hoping for some critter encounters and brought my macro lens for that purpose, but alas, none really made an appearance. A couple of ground squirrels and the usual birds & lizards.
I got in my miles, exercise and sunshine. |
