| partners | | Opted for Lookout Lake & Mtn with Wyatt and the dog. It’s a long drive, 100 miles and 2.5 hrs from the house, but has a lot of fall color. The final 3-4 miles to the trailhead requires medium clearance since they created humps in the road every couple hundred feet. Annoying. If it weren’t for those humps, almost any vehicle could reach the trailhead.
Wyatt claimed he was carsick, so he made us hike kind of slow. I think he was being dramatic. The trail is overgrown up to the lake, but clear after that. Not much of a lake, but there are a few campsites around it.
Once we got around to the south side of the peak, the trail got steeper and rockier. Despite the cool temps, it felt pretty warm in the full sun. As expected, great views of the Selkirks from the summit. Took a break at the summit, then headed back down, taking a slightly different route on the road for the final mile or so. Has nice views. |
