The route is entirely within the siphon fire perimeter, and while there were large areas that were burned to the ground, there were others that were barely touched...
Aside from the scorched vegetation, the trail itself is in decent shape - it was weird to be able to look clear across the landscape with unobstructed views...though it certainly made it easier to find ruins and other historical artifacts. Another hiker in the area pointed out a broken arrowhead, found not far off the trail proper. They mentioned the presence of some ruins in the area, but we didn't detour to check things out.
It was sad to see all the burned areas, knowing what things looked like before. Hopefully things didn't burn too hot to significantly delay regrowth...though we also really really need rain.
Given how full the parking lot was when we were done, we were glad to have gotten there early and to see as few people as we did while out walking. |

Happier when hiking....I may not move fast (and I'm often distracted by wildflowers), but I'll get there eventually |
