Met Denny & Wally at First Water at 0500. Driving thru AJ at 0430 is an interesting experience, btw. Headed out on Dutchman and Second Water to Garden Valley. Shade the whole way. Garden Valley is a golden sea of foxtails, one spark and that place is going up in flames.

Made our way to Hackberry. The spring is yuck, but plenty of water in the creek after that point. Easy to keep the feet dry, but enough water for nice pics. Didn’t get much sunlight until the last mile or so. Nice early morning workout loop. Saw one other hiker who started at the same time as us. A pleasant surprise of rain showers on part of my drive back home, and at my house, including some thunder. Always good to see Denny & Wally again, thanks for the invitation!
