| no partners | | Start of an 8 day road trip. Wife and I had started doing National Parks, Monuments, etc……and decided to visit this nearby gem as we headed north. We’re both very concerned that the parks may be more difficult to visit in the near future. Spent some time walking through an informative visitor center and then checked out the ruins. The ruins were more extensive than I expected. Crazy to think that was all buried until the 1930. There was a map that seemed to indicate that those kind of ruins are all over the place in the Verde Valley. Afterward drove the area to check out potential trails. There are two river access points near Tuzigoot. One actual has a defined trail called the Verde Greenway that extends to Dead Horse Park. The other seemed to offer a riverside walk use trail. I’ll have to go back and explore. Then we drove out to Parsons Springs TH. Very neat. I didn’t know it was located there until we pulled up to the TH. Also, visited Dead Horse Park to see what they had to offer. Looked like quite a bit, especially with trails. Unfortunately, it is a pay to use area.
Long day, but Tuzigoot was neater than expected and it was exciting to explore potential hiking areas. Tuzigoot was moderately busy. Saw one pronghorn on our drive to Parsons. |
