| partners | | Bruce suggested an out-n-back on Cabin Loop on a Slope with the two boring peaks. I don't see the point outside of Autumn, but it sounded better than anything I'd done recently, and the weather looked nice.
The drive to the mountain from Globe was the same as always, a total mystery. His hike was a redo of Linda's 2023 Sixshooter Canyon bridge to Signal-n-Pinal Peaks.
Bruce had remarkable energy for the first 3/4 of a mile up, then he checked.
Cool summer vs recent years, boy howdy it was pleasant 1.6ish mi up from the bridge on the cloudy ascent. A few spots in the next half-mile to mile are among my favorites because the views out through the pines remind me of Big Bear.
The balance of the hike up was lovely when there was a breeze. Next up were the peaks, which I've always despised. God created this mountain for skillet-dwellers to enjoy autumn foliage, it's not a peak bagger's paradise... you can drive to them.
We took a break below Ladder Rock and then headed up to Pinal Peak, where Bruce's jubilant greetings to the resting workers went largely ignored. I weasled out of Signal.
The views down to Pioneer Basin with the Dripping Spring Mountains always intrigue, but I'll never explore.
The descent weighed heavily on my mind, but Bruce didn't rush, and it went better than anticipated.
