| no partners | | Drove up the Swift trail not expecting much, wanted to camp at elevation to enjoy a cool night. The very upper part of the mountain near the observatory and radio towers are gold with the young aspen turn. Nothing much lower, a few outliers. I off trailed to some young aspen with red gold tops. The maples roadside still mostly green but look healthy. My favorite campspot unoccupied. Super windy night. Drove down then tried to follow up on a third hand tip of possible ruins. Crawled under a locked gate and looked around at the indicated area but really didn't see anything, however I've done some hiking in this general area and it deserves a revisit due to the attractive boulder piles.
New to me is some asphalt like treatment on sections of the dirt part of the Swift trail. Maybe they are planning on extending the pavement but more likely maybe a stab at erosion control. |
