| no partners | | 2PM - I was a little nervous heading up Go John as last time it was a struggle for me. I had hiked it after doing another little loop. Anyway, I was a happy hiker as I didn't struggle at all. I felt like my old self. I still don't like that rocky section about 2/3 the way up. And from the top of the saddle, it was smooth sailing. I forgot to put on my watch so that felt wierd.
It was a perfect day and I even had a refresh breeze when I hiked south. I was thinking if I were a snake it would be a good afternoon for some sun-bathing, so I kept somewhat alert to that. I made the junction with Clay Mine and decided to hike to where the Horse Trail sign was as I wanted to get at least 4 miles.
The Clay Mine back to go John is pretty soft and has two little hills from the horse traffic. I saw two horseback riders and four hikers. No other critters other than birds. I enjoyed my Huck It.
FYI - Traffic on Cave Creek Rd involves quite a bit of construction.
Temp 73.3 sunny and 12% humidity |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
