A—see which roads are in good condition
B— see what potential hiking was out there
C—see what areas were good for target shooting
Most of the roads were in good shape. To access the area, Ohio Match Road was smoother than Hayden Creek Rd. Both lead to the same areas.
Seems like a fair amount of potential hiking, mostly farther in.
Tons of easily accessed target shooting options, so I was happy.
Stopped and hiked part of Hells Canyon trail 234. It immediately crossed a creek. I was able to keep my feet dry, but it would be tougher during snowmelt. Harlow had a cold water crossing in 35 degree temps. She was fine.
Easy enough trail as we headed east and uphill. More views as we climbed. Were passed by 11 dirt bikers, which the dog does not care for.
Turned around at a nice viewpoint at 1.25 miles. Looks the the trail gets steeper as it continues east another couple of miles. I may come back sometime to complete the whole thing.
Easy hike back downhill. 40 degrees when we finished. |
