48° to start, nobody else in the parking lot. Nothing motivates me like cold weather. I did not want to finish in the cold, so I got started quickly.
Objective
Nobody makes Shepherd's Pie like Mom. That doesn’t mean they’re made incorrectly, just different. I haven't found anything nearly as good as Mom used to make, but I enjoy checking them all out.
Route Scout was created for hiking with several specific reasons. My former Garmin Fenix 2 was designed to record enough points that if you go from hiking the average 2.1 mph to a jet fighter corner-speed of 440 Knots (506 mph/0.659 speed of sound), it has enough points to represent. RS was designed to eliminate Garmin spiral scribbles every time you pause.
The purpose of this hike was to collect route data for multiple sources so I can add filter option(s) to suit a wider audience.
Hike
Aside from pleasant, the hike up was uneventful to the saddle, except for the first creek crossing after Romero Pools.
A mile or two before reaching the gate where the road begins, I chatted with an SAHC guy more than usual.
I stepped into the parking lot at exactly 1 PM. Took a picture, took a 728 millisecond break, and turned around.
Stopped at Quartzsite Spring on the way back to collect water and take a lunch break. The road was much busier with walkers/hikers/bikers in early September, so I only expected one or two groups to even pass by, let alone have an interest in the little spring nook. Just situated with my socks off to let my feet breathe, a group of kids looks down and I hear something... Are you kidding? We're not going down there; he has his feet out!
About 8 miles to go, I passed a guy who looked like a large scarf with a hiking pole and reminded me of the HAZ barber who used to hike with Linda and Wally. Nothing beats a good wilderness cut, but I got a trim 12 days ago.
Mega Synopsis
Abbreviated from the book, I could write about this multi-app journey. I did a ~3.2mi Telegraph test hike days before figuring out all the ins and outs of 3 new apps and 1 device. That typical one-hour hike was a ten-hour journey. Along with a few other edits on HAZ, I've updated the legacy +Add > GPS Route initial screen to hopefully save others time on that approach if they so choose.
As of recent, RS stats while recording are similar to what transfers to Save/Share. It's all over the board in between because I had to figure out other stuff first, and I will soon work on that part. There used to be huge differences between Android and iOS.

*stopped twice when I took it off to charge it mid-hike. There's no way you're getting 24 hours unless you put it in low battery mode, coupled with fewer heart rate readings... maybe 16 hours. Apple Watch didn't fail or glitch me. It isn't designed for 14-hour hikes. Using WorkOutDoors now to bridge that issue.

Historically and currently, for each person who contacts me about straight lining on iOS, I get about 25 for Android. The number of settings required on an iPhone can be counted on one hand. You need three hands and a pain reliever to get'r done on Android. To complicate, the settings change up to four times a year because that's how Android rolls. Use another app or device if you can't figure it out. Hundreds of Android users aren't magically getting lucky. I'll happily set them for you too, if you want to hit this lap on Lemmon. |

| | The creek was a clear, low-flow, with large pools.
Since I have not had time in the 5 hikes to explore, I'm leaving this at [32.407026050663,-110.85251605096] as bretinthewild created. South side of camp, 50 feet from creek.
If it is a spring, I do not believe it is at that location. I looked around that area 6 weeks ago and found nothing.
This observation is 210 feet NE @ 5.1 miles. Which is the first creek crossing since Romero Pools. When I crossed the creek minutes later upstream, it was dry. | | _____________________
