Mid morning hike at SoMo. Started from the “extended” Ranger Trail (near the corral) around 10am. Went up Ranger and visited Goat Hill and then went along the ridgeline via the National to the Kiwanis Trail. Took the Kiwanis to the Las Lomitas and then over to the Crosscut which I took back to my starting point. Surprised at how dry some of the terrain looked. Goat Hill looked parched. Even the cacti appeared in rough shape….and this is January. The stepping stones for Goat Hill are almost more of a deterrent. Not too bad going up, but I had to watch my steps coming down. Oddly, the washes appeared to be in good shape. Both Kiwanis and Las Lomitas had healthy looking vegetation.

Weather was great. In the 60’s. No wildlife. Encountered 20 hikers. Trails were in great shape, but next time I hike them I need to take a “pooper scooper”. Come on people!
