| no partners | | I wanted to hike or walk somewhere other than the River Walk Trail. I would have preferred a hike up Flat Top, but the snow is melting, and the temperature was way above freezing. It made it all the way to 46 degrees! Balmy weather + snow = mud.
Water Canyon Road was dry. I didn't even have to leave my shoes in the carport when I got home.
No wildlife except the common Northern Flicker. This bird used to be named the Red-shafted Flicker. I'm not sure why the birdworld powers-that-be changed its name. They do that a lot. I feel like the bird had no choice. It got un-shafted.
Other birds are also slated for name changes, mostly to remove the names of people. These include Stellar's Jay, Townsend's Warbler, Anna's Hummingbird, Gambel's Quail and Cooper's Hawk. It's a good thing the birds don't actually care.
Lots of elk tracks. |
