I had not been up on Black Top Mesa in a while so I in. The early morning start was nice and the trail easy going. The climb up Bull Pass and then Black Top Mesa was more than I remember but a good test.

We poked around the top and looked an the various etching made over the years. Andy and I made a second attempt to find the other sunburst and even thought I knew where it should be (near Stone Mountain rock) I could not see it in the sunlight until it was viewed from the opposing angle.

We passed a few HAZards on the hike down and stopped for lunch near Black Mesa trail after which we got to climb up to Black Mesa. I poked around on Black Mesa and found a few sherds. The mine tailings in Black Mesa are still visible since the burn.

The hike back was uneventful with several hikers out on the trails. We finished up while it was still nice out. A good day on the trail.
