| no partners | | | Well this area has been on my list for awhile now so I decided to head on up towards good old Prescott. Hit the trail just before 7am and was up at the tower in 45 minutes. Found the yellow register can under the tower at the summit that not many find or sign I guess? Took a picture and then went to the wooden helipad and soaked up the views to the south. Great view, could see the Four Peaks but not the Superstitions as the haze was too great today. No great view to the north so I decided to head up Mt. Davis for that. Went along #284 for just a bit to see where it was going and then went up the south side of Mt. Davis which involved no bushwhacking, just picking the way up the peak. Once at the summit went to the northern point where there was a geocache can with a shot glass, keychains, arrowhead, and wrenches inside of it. Signed the register there and soaked up the views to the north. Great views of Granite Mt. and to the north. If you do Mt. Union go and hit up Mt. Davis, you will love the views from the northern rocks. Started to go down the western side to get back to the saddle where I ran into an old mine shaft I believe? Then some major bushwhacking started. Stick to the southern end of Mt. Davis. Great area. |
