Great blustery day for it; gray clouds moving swiftly across the sky, sun light breaking through when it could, the temp on the sign for Prescott Resort was 37 degrees, and with the winds, it felt like thirty. Things changed a bit at the trailhead since I was last here and surprisingly there were a few cars parked there and a few folks on the trail. The weather did not seem to dampen their spirits. At one point during the hike I paused and exchanged pleasantries with a mother, at 79 years of age, and her daughter both from Sun City! Hiked the trail clockwise, I wanted to get the steepest part out of the way first, it is paved up to the top, and I do not like walking down it when I go counter-clockwise. Pleasant walk with a little snow flurrys, the smell of damp earth, and shawdows moving across the landscape from the clouds moving in the unsettled air above. Sadly the bark beetles wrecked havoc in this area as well, the trees sparse and scattered. All in all a great hike today. |
