This area Brian has hiked and driven in before but not this drainage. The last one half to a mile to the corral near the spring is HC and 4wd. Its a steep motha and you'll need low range to get out without bouncing your vehicle everywhere.
We took off down this canyon a little over a half mile to the Salt River. Wonderful geology, twisted tortured multi colored rock and some dryfalls and little pools. Some of the dryfalls require at the most Class 4, but you need a little bit of possible chimneying a couple of feet and mantling skills on the back out. I bypassed one but all are traversable without technical skill but take care on the water polished rock. The Salt was low and a little muddy, we didn't have time but it looks like you are able to rock hop up and down the river some at this level.
Don't make the long drive just for this but a nice area with beautiful views, etc. |
