AZLOT69's hike description is right on - very accurate with a lot of detail, but you've really gotta pay attention because it's more of a 'route' than a 'trail'. If I didn't have my GPS to convince me I was going the right way, I might have ended up somewhere else entirely. Part of this first section has occasional orange tree tapes to guide you, but they're just far enough apart to have you start wondering where the heck you're going before you see the next one. They are most helpful, so you'll want to keep an eye out for them (but, watch out for the catclaw in this area, too!).
Once you get over the ridge by the waterfall and find your way down to the wash, the rest of the hike is pretty straight forward. The boulder climbing section was fun and not as difficult as it appears to be (it helps being tall). This area is very scenic and quite enjoyable. I took more pictures than I expected to.
Didn't see anyone else out there. The only real downside of this hike was that it ended too soon! |
