| no partners | | | Took the fat bike over to Estrella Foothills Bikepark to go for a wander around Pirate trails today. Spent most of the morning vacuuming the house due to the lack of interesting programming on the tele. Once I got that all done I loaded up the fat bike on the Mystery Machine and drove the 5 miles over to the bike park to hit the Pirate trails. Took the power line over to Tortuga Island, Scurvy Spine, Bootlegger, Grasky, Black Beard (out and back), Queen Annes Revenge, back on Tortuga Island, Jolly Roger toward BC, Doubloon, back on Jolly Roger, Park Ave back to the parking lot. Loaded up the bike and cranked over the van. Got that typical Arizona, "I believe that's the last time this battery is going to start this vehicle", feeling. Sure enough, parked the van in the driveway, turned it off, turned it back on to the sound of click, click, click, click, thud. Spent the rest of the afternoon replacing my van battery. Got caught up on the last 3 days of the January Grand Sumo tournament. Passed 2 hikers on the trail and saw another mountain biker in the distance. |

, Connector, Park Ave back to the Community Park. Saw a group of 6 riders on my way back to the Iron Ranger near the end of my ride. Sun was warm and the breeze was brisk. Trails in the park look like there flagged for an upcoming running event.

Dang it!) or anyone for that matter, except one lone, spunky little viper at the start. My expectations were met that these trails would probably be way more fun on a mountain bike. Reminded me a lot of the San Tan Mountain Regional or the Casa Grande Mountain Parks. Mostly flat desert with a bunch of sweeping turns. The eastern terminus of Homestead was a tease, especially after the constant uphill through all that monotonous desert, sand and a brisk headwind that didn't help. But wow! Corgett Wash looks as if it allows some great access to some of the craggy highpoints in this northwestern part of the range. Definitely will be back, especially if there are ways to get closer to the actual mountains with a wheeler and not have to hike all those filler miles.
