Enjoyed 2 nights in the Cholla CG. Both nights with full moons rising shortly after dark. Experimented with camera settings and some light painting. Hiking the paths and loops of the CG. Saw a loitering kitty at the marina.

Enjoyed the east end of Arnett this afternoon. While standing at the trail junction of the Telegraph Canyon, we were surprised by a gray fox coming out of brush to join us. She was a surprised as we were. Later a buzz worm in the tall grass surprised me,just to get the heart going more. By sound only, I was only 3-4' from it and made a fast retreat. Took to beating the grass with a 5' stick just to show who was boss. Frogs, tarantula, garter snake, assorted birds filled out our viewing during the short jaunt.

Did not time this trip, with more stops loitering at views and information. Beautiful day with mid-60s temperatures.

Took the Nature Loop and extended by adding the Wildlife Corridor, Gasline and Firebreak trails for a larger loop. Mildly warm morning with nice breezes on the ridgelines. Enjoyed the self-guided tour of the ranch house and history. Nice State Park that sees low usage.

A lolli pop loop for the afternoon. Parked at the pullout on the San Juan Rd at the National Trail crossing. National out to Bursera to Gila and back to the National for our ride home. Met one hiker and saw a few poppies coming out. Some slopes were covered in a very small yellow flower. Great day with gentle cool breezes.

Explored the Arnett Canyon and side canyon area. Enjoyed the cool of the canyon shade and occasionally some sunshine. Water trickling in spots. We will be back.

Camped in the Park and used this trail to the Trailhead parking. Did the Birding and Nature loops to see something new as the Romero Pools Trail was very busy. Several creeks flowing nicely and mostly kept the feet dry. A couple breaks to watch birds, cacti, water or the high ridges with snow.

Breezy day on the trails. We opted out of the Ridge Line to stay lower out of the wind for our loop.

Short afternoon hike and choose the route to Hackberry Spring from the Horse Lot via the lower wash. Looking to stay out of the sun by staying in the canyons on an 85deg day. Spent an hour listening to the birds, owls and life of the desert in the narrow canyon of First Water just unwinding.

Unable to get out of town (read as out of the heat) this weekend, so the DbleDutch Team turned to our alternate relief. The trails of Fashion Square are easy to follow, although may have some distractions. Some sections of trail have steep areas that have steps to reach the upper portions of this urban canyon. Temp was generally less than 80 which was our goal. Extra bonus is that most trailheads have covered parking. :y:

Headed to Hackberry Spring and pleasantly surprised with good water flow in First Water. Returned by following First Water to the ranch corals and back to Horselot for a reverse lasso loop. Mixed flowers and other fauna with light breezes made for a great afternoon. Frequent stops for photos and just to sit and hear the water flowing/falling over the rocks. Water flowing in the desert is such a treat.

Spent some relaxing days at Patagonia Lake SP. Birding, walking, lounging. Reservations made 3+ months ago and both the Sweetheart and I were under the weather for the trip. The kayak or daypacks never came out :( Just a couple strolls along the Lake, Creek and campground. The pipevine swallowtails were quick in the breeze and tough to get a clean pic. Same with the vermilion flycatchers and a juvenile hawk yet to be identified. Heavy rain our last night but cleared for us to pack up between showers in the AM. Maiden voyage for a towed vehicle and all the equipment performed well. The Toad came in handy to explore some local roads and geocache...car hiking :?

Fun afternoon in the Supes. Constantly changing skys added to the pics. With a later start time, we hit our turn around time before the falls. The Sweetheart frowns on night hiking, after several other trips ended by lamp light :( Busy day on the trail. Lot was full when we arrived and nearly empty on our return.

Left Quartzsite about 10:30 for the trailhead. Up the trail and at the trail view point too early for the best light. Headed up the chute on the rightside. As we were returning the trail, wife's cell phone began ringing in her backpack. WHAT! cell service in this remote tight side canyon. Yup she is talking to our son in Phx. Light on the Palms was better on our way out.
