This was my 6th time hiking this trail, but first time in 6 years. A place I first went as an 8 year old in 1990. I love this area of country.
This was the earliest I ever went up, normally late July.
The trail was very wet and lots of deadfall. Half the trail had running water on it. While there are lots of little footbridge crossings, some were underwater, and some meadows were quite squishy/ muddy. Between the deadfall and water, it probably added an extra mile of distance with added zig zags.
The popularity has exploded,6 years ago we were one of two groups at the lakes, during prime season. This time instead of an empty parking lot at the trailhead there were 5 extra cars. Then there were multiple groups across the trail as well. That was quite surprising to me.
Trail is quite easy to follow, two larger bridges allow crossing of the river. Pretty steady, unnoticeable climb for the first 8 miles, then you hit switchbacks which provide a bit more of a climb for a short bit.

Took a group of boys on a 50 mile backpacking trip last week. Great trip with all safely arriving in Pine at the end. The original route I downloaded doesn't track to the current highline trail. Many added switchbacks, and jaunts around a Riggs ridge vs over it. At first I worried we were off path, but then I could see where trail had been blocked off, And new one grated out.

Bear tracks were on the trail everyday before us from Washington Park to Pine, so that was fun. Never saw one though. A few elk at times and lots of birds.

Was really hot, by 930 AM the stretches in the sun were epretty draining. Water was found on the trail with the exception of between geronimo and Pine.

I loved this trip. Had a group of 15 for a quick overnighter. The first 1.5 miles felt like a mini Grand Canyon Proxy, and is really cool to look back over where you started when you reach the top of the rim. We got through that part while it was light. Was super grateful for the cairns available for the flat part. Was able to navigate without much issue despite hiking in the dark (thanks to a spotlight flashlight).

It was a little chilly, probably touching 32 degrees overnight as my water sink had about a millimeter of ice frozen over. I took my fishing pole, but didn't see any rising/ feeding nor any birds hunting. No action on the pole either. So must not be any fish in the lake :).

Loved camping in the pines, with the lake not too far. Some patches of snow nearby.

Took a group of 20 on a backpacking trip. We got started about 90 minutes later than we were hoping, so ended up hiking a majority of the way in, in the dark. A few scattered sprinkles, just enough for the teenagers to want to put on rain gear. Had a variety of skill levels, so we hiked in 3 groups. Trail was very easy to follow, even in the dark. Was hoping to find a camping spot between 7 and 10 miles in. Sure to the late start, was planning on closer to 7, but in the dark hard to see good areas as it's pretty steep between the trail and river flats. First real access point was about 8.5 miles, but really thick with short trees, wasn't very easy to wind through with a backpack. I did come face to face with a little owl. Literally, I almost headbutted the bird, before it finally flew off. I left the group here for a bit as it was camp possible since they were on their last legs, but we wanted better proximity to water. I finally found the jeep road that gave easy access, so i returned and grabbed the group. Plenty of flow in the river, but it is a brown wate...We camped there for the night, then woke up and headed back. Weather was pretty good for the most part. A bit sunny at times yesterday, but some decent wind and cloud cover helped.

Beautiful day. Took a group of novice hikers. No real water sources observed on this trail. Once you pass the valley, trail following gets more difficult. Never got lost, but it group ended up taking 3 slightly student different paths to get to the same spot.

Trail is pretty easy to follow. Bring bug spray, as mosquitos were out in full force. Despite being in the midst of a dry and droughtfilled summer, there was plenty of water and in many parts the trail was muddy, wet and boggy. Spent a fair amount of the trail looking for rocks, clumps, and drier ways to proceed. Also a fair amount of dead fall across the trail. Two creek crossings. One there is a bridge of logs, another required walking through. It was about knee high, and fairly decent current. Would recommend trekking poles and footwear to protect feet from rocks.

There's an old logging road to the top I told my son...it can't be that bad. I have the route on my phone, we can find our way I told my son. There will be good views and vantage points I told my son...
I don't know that my son will trust me much after this one. Goal was to get to the peak and have nice views of the surrounding area. Even if we didn't reach the peak - there should be some good stops along the saddle to look for wildlife :).
I started off assuming the direction from the Sawmills Campsite - and headed South from what I remembered relative to the peak, and what looked like a decent enough trail. This was wrong, so we summitted a little hill - but then the trail disappeared once on top and we started 'working' our way towards the real trail, only to realize heading back to Sawmills was the best course of action. We were now on the right trail, but the road wasn't a road - more climbing through a bouldered dry creek bed (which I hate rock walking), with lots of deadfall, prickly bushes (raspberry plants?) and rocks. Meanwhile visibility outside of the trail is very minimal - thick vegetation and not any good vantage points. We press on to the top of the mini canyon and enter into Manzanita's in full blossom. There is no longer any sense of a trail that continues through the manzanita. They are all taller than my son, and chest high on me. We 'bushwack' a bit get turned around, and can't locate the 'trail/road' through this area. By now were were tired, and frustrated (no wildlife, no visbility, and allergies starting up from all the manzanita flowers, scratches from the prickly bushes) so we decided to call it and head back down. Once we escaped the Manzanita it wasn't all bad, but not a hike we will likely do again. We did see a rattlesnake (black one) on our way back- about 1/2 of the way down from the saddle.

A couple of blue ones (Forget me nots) and the manzanita were in full bloom

Took the family on a hike. It was a great day weather wise. Most exciting was my 4 year old walked nearly 5 miles on her own. It wasn't too busy, a couple horse groups on the trail. Kids were excited to see Blue Scrub Jay bird and a few deer tracks.

Incredible experience. First time at canyon. Weather was good. Most memorable thing is climbing up out of south rim, and looking back to north rim. Looks impassable, yet I had just walked that entire way myself! At times looking up the canyon walls and not seeing how we could get out, as it appeared the way forward wasn't anything besides sheer cliffs. Looking forward to doing again.

Set out to summit Humphrey's today with a Boy Scout Troop. We had locked in this date before winter hit, and new going in that a summit may not happen. We made it about halfway up the trail towards the summit, before we turned around. We did not have spikes, nor trekking poles, and were starting to slip with nearly every step due to the snow/ice on the trail. It was a beautiful day, and on our hike back the trail did start to get muddy in places. Many other hikers on the trail today also turned around. There were a few that pressed on, and we did not cross paths with again.

Days were hot, night was cold. Plenty of water near the ranch, good strong flow. Smelled a skunk about 1/3 rd of the way up, but other than that just saw birds.

Took the Scouts on an overnight backpacking trip, as we get ready for a 50 mile backpacking trip this summer. Weather was decent, fun hiking under a full moon. We did come across a Rattle Snake about 1/4 mile from the parking lot on our way back. It was 1 foot off the trail, and gave us a warning rattle, before slithering off. Must have been confused by the warm weather.

Cloudy and wet, but a fun hike. Took the trail up and back with my son. Due to rain ended up crossing lots of little springs.

Took my 8 year old son on his first overnight backpacking trip. Got a late start, but it was great. Beautiful country and a nice easy hike for him to use his new pack and sleeping bag on. Weather was perfect (a bit chilly to begin the morning) but no wind, and a full moon. Hiked in while dark, and hiked out in the early AM. Didn't see much wildlife, but did hear some turkey's. Would like to go back soon.

Took a group of Boy scouts on the Reavis Ranch hike as an overnight backpacking trip in preparation for the 50 mile backpacking trip we are planning for the summer.

Weather was great, due to early release day in GPS, we were able to get on the trail around 4:00 PM, so we had pretty good light until Windy Pass. Hiking in the dark is always an adventure, and we were hopeful the nearly full moon would help out, but it didn't show its glory until I tried to get some shut eye. When we got to the ranch area there was another group of people from canada enjoying the area. Boys (and leaders) were pretty beat, so after dinner and some smores, everyone hit the sack pretty quickly. Morning came soon enough, and we packed up (slowly) and got back on the trail about 9:45.

For an relatively new Arizona Transplant I was amazed at finding this hidden forest of sorts in the superstitions. There were real tree's, some running springs, grasses and some apple trees in bloom. Glad we did it, and a good experience all around.

Wend on this loop for a nice day hike. Perfect weather, and the scouts I was with really enjoyed the water/stream area near Hackberry. Nice easy hike. My 8 year old boy went with his new backpack which slowed him down near the end (weighed down with about 10 lbs). But he did alright for his first hike with a Backpack.

Wasn't this an awesome treasure!

I hated the road - we drove in while dark and I am not much for 4 wheel drive, and was just hoping I didn't do anything to damage the family car (honda pilot). After finally getting there, we took a group of scouts down to the ruins. Trail was hard to follow towards the end in the dark. Good luck finding the ruins in the dark as well. We had someone who had been there before, but as we reached the ruins and tried to get to the landing for camping, we got all turned around and it probably took us close to an hour to get from the base of the ruins to our campsite. It was really windy that night, and kept us all awake. The next morning after packing up camp we made it to the ruins in about 15 minutes - sunshine really helps.

They were really awesome to see. Amazing that people lived there previously, and neat to see original structure. I was grateful that the road is terrible, and the hike is 4 miles as it likely keeps a majority of numskulls away (some still manage to make it and carve into wooden posts).

There was water all up and down the trail for us. While camping in the landing/meadow just beyond the dwellings the grass was full of little poky thorns - so my nice flat camping spot ended up putting 4 tiny pin pricks into my air mattress - so beware!
