Such a great hike to the top although it seemed more difficult today to find the route to 5024….stopped to check out the memorial for the flight that crashed too. Perfect weather with a nice breeze at the top. There were more hikers than I expected to be for a Friday.

Nice easy little hike along the brown mountain ridge line. Views aren’t bad at the top. Good hike to do in the area if you want something quick.

Perfect weather for a hike. Didn’t see too many people out on the trail. I liked this hike a lot, great views of downtown and of the Estrellas.

Really cool place if you're in the Austin/San Antonio area. There aren't a lot of mountains in this area but the views from the top are great. There are other loop trails in the park where you can add more miles. I definitely would have made a whole day of it if I had more time. Check it out!

Slowly made my way up to 5024. Great weather. I found the trail a little difficult to find at times, but managed to get there eventually. Route Scout helped me out a lot. This was a lot of fun and I hope to do it again soon when I'm in the area.

This was such a cool hike. It's not a very long one but you get a 360 degree view of Wickenburg and the surrounding mountains. I found it was pretty easy to get to, there is a parking lot right off of Vulture Mine Rd, it's well marked. The first mile and a half are pretty flat. Lots of nice scenery around there. When you come to the base of the mountain, it begins to get steep. There's a few switchbacks and then you finally come to the saddle. Great views here too. At this point, the peak is only an intimidating climb that is almost straight up, but I found it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be coming down. The views from the top are pretty cool. It's a quick stroll back to the parking lot on the way down. I would do this hike again for sure, even though it's a bit of a drive. Took me about an hour and 15 minutes from old town Scottsdale.

I like this hike because there's some pretty good views at the top and it doesn't take too long. We got started in the afternoon and it was pretty warm. Not too much shade on this trail. Easy to park right at the trailhead. Great hike to do if you don't have all day to hike but you're looking for some good views of Scottsdale and and the surrounding mountains.

Made it up to Wasson Peak today. It was really hot, upper 80's when we started and around 90 when we finished. The views up on top are great though. This is a great hike and a place I always try to get to when I'm in the Tucson area.

Made it to the top of Camelback today. From a tourist's perspective, it was short and fun. I found the Echo Canyon trail is actually easier than the Cholla trail but only because I had difficulty finding the trail after the saddle on the Cholla trail. Clearly I'm fairly new to hiking, but it seemed a little less scary on this trail. Only thing I didn't like was the crowded trail. Damn tourists! I'll be back in March to head to the Tucson area.

Wanted to get to Wasson Peak in the shortest amount of time so we decided to hit the King Canyon Trail. We started around 2:30pm and the weather was sunny and almost 70 degrees. The trail is well maintained all the way to the peak and it's very easy to follow. The only exception is near the mam-a-gah picnic area about 1 mile in, you have to make a right up the trail out of the wash. It's pretty clear to see the trail, but if you're not paying attention, I could see how you could miss it. I was surprised that there is no signage there marking the king canyon trail given how clear the signs are throughout the rest of the hike. As you continue to the peak the view gets better and better. There are some switchbacks about a mile from the peak that will give your legs and lungs a good workout. The views from the peak are awesome. We left the peak an hour before sunset and made it back to the car just in time before it got too dark.

Really wanted to get to the top of Mt. Kimball but this was my first peak fail. This trail starts off in the Sonoran desert and quickly moves through the canyon and just keeps going up. Relentless incline all the way to the saddle. I actually had to turn around just before the saddle because of water running down some flat sheet rock. I was surprised how slippery it became and I decided I wasn't experienced enough to keep going without someone who had done this hike before. Another hiker on the way down told me there was some ice a little further up that made for some dicey footing up ahead. I was disappointed but decided I'd rather live to try this one again. For some reason I had a lot of cactus needles sticking me a lot on this hike too. It's a really hard hike that you should definitely be in good shape for if you plan on making it all the way to Mt. Kimball. Can't wait to give this one another try.

My brother and I make it out to AZ once a year and we decided to do Picacho Peak this time out. We started around 9am or so and it was a little cold, but it would quickly warm up. The trail to the saddle wasn't too bad. Going down the first cables was a bit terrifying at first but then it became fun. There are a few cable sections throughout the hike that you need to be pretty motivated to make it to the top if you have any fear of heights, but it's definitely worth it. We had the peak to ourselves for about 15 minutes or so. Coming down, there was a jam waiting for a few small groups to come up the cables so we had to wait. I would imagine doing this hike at the beginning or the end of the day would be best to avoid waiting for other hikers to ascend and descend the cables.
This was definitely the most fun I've ever had hiking. Coming from PA, we have nothing close to this. Can't wait to do it again next time I'm in AZ

Quick hike up to the top of "A" Mountain. Just wanted to get a quick walk in before some bigger hikes tomorrow. From the top you can get a cool view of the airport and watch a few planes fly overhead. You'll probably run into some people walking their dog and maybe a few prospective ASU students. You should get to the top at least once if you're ever in the area.
