With a cool snap in the forecast, what better last chance to make South Mountain remotely pleasant?
Forecast calls for temps in the mid-60s with a 20% chance of a shower. Sounds pretty nice to me!
Planning a 9-10 mile loop consisting of:
Mormon
Hidden Valley
Guadalupe Ridge / Midlife Crisis
Corona East / Old Man
Corona de Loma
Geronimo
AEG comes in at just under 2500 feet.
Start at 24th St./Mormon TH
Tuesday 5/9 at 6:30pm. We have to be out by 11pm.
Carpool options and itinerary is flexible. Feel free to comment below.

The only thing I would change is where you get to Guadalupe Ridge from Hidden Valley--if you go west through Hidden Valley a few hundred more feet, there's a pretty clear path that goes up to the ridge (where the wood crosses are), it's a little easier than going up through those rocks on your route. It doesn't really matter to me though, I've been on both routes plenty of times, and it probably won't be dark yet at that point, so easy enough to get up there.
Stop crying and just go do the hike.

@lindaagm
I thought the route did go by the crosses. If not, that was my thinking. But I'm also willing to follow your recommendations or anybody else who calls this abomination of desert boredom their home turf. ;)

Your route appears to go to the east of the crosses. If you look on the satellite view, there's a big grey rock to the west of where you show turning up, we should go up just on the west side of that rock. No big deal, it's not like we're gonna get lost in the middle of Phoenix.
Stop crying and just go do the hike.

We were never off route. I just didn't realize that

Well Rowdy and I will be starting early as not to hold anyone up. This morning I got my ankle brace adjusted and ready to go. I also got a cortisone shot in my bad shoulder so I am excited to hike South Mountain again.
