Friday June 18 to Monday June 21 (4 days, 3 nights)
I'm in "watchful waiting" mode (bad pun) with left eye surgery completed on 4/28 and right eye surgery scheduled on 5/19. With compromised vision, I've been sticking close to home. This is making me "itch" for June 1st clearance to get back into REAL HIKING again! With that being said, I want to throw it out there for discussion for a 4 day weekend in Chaco Canyon with side trip into Bisti Wilderness. We're at critical mass for Friday June 18th thru Monday June 21st and made an inquiry to the Ranger Station about reserving the Group Camp Site for those dates.
Thoughts? Letting Rob off the hook with all the organizing logistics but count on his archeological insights during the Chaco treks...
Average June temperatures for Chaco are Hi 86F and Lo 47F with 0.4" monthly precipitation.
Tentative Agenda
Arrival at Chaco Group Camp Site (reserved under name Camp Schulhauser) Friday June 18th around lunch time. NOTE: If we aren't at sufficient numbers for Group Camp Site, we'll "free-for-all" grabbing individual sites clustered together.
Many sites in Chaco and Bisti to take in. Maybe bring the mountain bike…
Depart Chaco Group Camp Site Monday June 21st around lunch time.
With the summer solstice http://www.chiff.com/a/summer-solstice.htm on Monday June 21st, wonder if there will be any special archeological activity in the park that day?
On as interested until I know better whats going on with the Job Thing... But I am really hoping I can break my "bad karma" with that place at last!

Ok I can't that weekend, I already made a commitment with another group. So sorry I will miss this. Have a great time, maybe next year! Thanks for the invite.
I'm hopeful I can make it for at least part of the time.

Sorry, guys...I've got too much in June. Just got an opportunity to go to the Sierras a little later that month, so I'm going to be gone like a week and a half already. Just too many amazing things to see in this world, and not enough time for me to get to it all... Take pics for me!

We currently have John Day's F-150 and my F-150 as "committed" transportation vehicles and Mike Mattes and Ken Schoepen as "committed" navigators to get us to Chaco and Bisti.
Any word from the "fence-sitters" joining us on June 18th???
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination. Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
Still don't know my work schedule from the dam. I'll find out on the first - that'll be the deciding factor for me. Hope I can make it.

Round 2 of eye surgery completed this morning placing another Alcon Toric intra-ocular lens. This is a relatively new specialty IOL to address astigmatism => http://www.acrysofiqtoric.com/
Left eye uncorrected currently tests at 20/30 vision, let's "see" how the right eye tests Friday morning...
Thanks for the encouragement, expect to be back on the trails in a couple of weeks!
Hope to hear a report of full recovery soon!
I also have another destination adventure beginning to form in my sun addled brain...

Its called Rock Point. Search it on the TrailDex map. Then see if you can see an easy route in.
