| no partners | | Yet another amazing hike in the beautiful Catalinas! It's been a few years since I'd done this canyon and I was itching to hike it again this winter. I was struggling up the climb to the ridge due to recovering from a cold, 4000ft of elevation gain, and it's been awhile since I've been to 'higher' altitude. The creek was flowing pretty good with many small waterfalls on the main canyon and the many side canyons. Once on the ridge there was a good 1-3 inches of snow up there and when I got behind the cliffs with the Window in it, there was a good 6-12 inches of snow to stomp thru. It made for amazing photos though! After taking a lunch break in the Window, I pushed further up to the south side of Window Peak and climbed out to that lesser 7395 peak to soak in the amazing views and take a half hour cat nap before turning around hiking back down... |
