Tom, Debbie, Bill, Susan, Jocelyn, Jon, Ryan, Alan, and myself hit the trail at a gentle pace. We arrive at a large alcove at 1.5 miles, and break for lunch as the super humid atmosphere unleashes a light shower. The casual hikers turn around, and the rest of us continue. We run into a friend from Flagstaff, who joins our group with her friendly log(!) fetching wolf-dog. We turn around at the drainage below Doyle Saddle, and begin the hike back. Rejoining the rest of the group at the trailhead, we head to Bun Huggers in Flag for dinner, and visit NAU, where Jocelyn will be attending later this year. Ryan, Alan, and I roam the campus, harass the bagpipe band, annoy others, and enjoy the sights. I am filled with regret having backed out of going to NAU so many years ago. |
