| partners | | Denny and I completed our 4th AZT passage today. Bruce and Dave joined for the full adventure and Bob hiked all over.
Started off in mid 60's and pleasant. That lasted all about twenty minutes before the muggy sweat fest took over. Just past the 880ft gain and down 300ft Bob turned back as he wasn't feeling a 100% but met us later and basically hiked the same distance if not more. I wasn't feeling so hot myself and as Bruce commented, "dang man you've pit stopped enough times for the entire group"...lol Luckily after a few hours it passed and I was able to enjoy the torture of the deluge and hail. It seemed to last for a solid hour but maybe only 45min. Bob and I Chrome domed the experience while the other got pounded. The rain was nice in that it dropped the temps. It was the trail turning into a river that we could have done without. The rest was a blur as constant elevation changes and weather was taking it's toll. I was impressed with the middle section as you'd swear it was right out Sedona with all the red rock and limestone capped ridges in the distance. A nice dinner in Payson and now I'm ready to pass out. Thanks guys! |
