Headed down into Cathedral Wash after lunch to get away from the awful howling wind on the rim. This trail turned out to be slightly more challenging than expected. Lots of backtracking on the way down, trying to find ways around pourovers, etc. Found two Petzl bolted-in anchors above the big pourover. The river was nice (as always), but we only spent a few minutes there due to time. Took 45 minutes to get back out - smooth as pie. Encountered a hippie couple hiking in at almost 4:30, just after we finished singing "Fat Bottomed Girls" really loud. They had to have thought we escaped from a mental institute. Good hike. Wind was howling on the rim, so when we got back to the vehicles, it was a quick goodbye. I think I need to change the fuel filter on my truck. John and I headed back to Page, discussing politics, while Liz went back to her motel room in Marble Canyon. All in all, a good day on the trail!
