| partners | | I don't usually backpack but couldn't resist this one. I could feel the extra weight in the pack for sure. Thanks to Te-Wa for setting this one up. It was nice to meet some other Haz Hikers. Bob and I got to the trailhead around 9:00 and Allan was already there. The three of us headed up the Pumpkin Trail and got to the tower around 11:45. There were a lot of burned areas. It rained a little on the way up. It seemed every time Bob put his jacket on it would let up. We visited the guy(Manuel) in the tower for a few then headed over by the old cabin to wait for the rest of the crew. The rest of them showed up shortly except Randal who came up later in the evening. We all shot the bull for a while then set up camp. There was some bark beetle damage but still a nice area. We went back up to the tower to watch the sunset then back to camp. It was a great time hearing stories from everyone. Thanks for the great time! Bob and I woke up early and headed down Bull Basin Trail. Hope we didn't wake anyone. There were some down trees on the way down but it went pretty good. When we got by they turnoff with the connector a small plane came over and landing on a strip a little north of us. We hit the connector trail back over to Pumpkin Trail and back to the trailhead. We noticed by the connector trail there were some fenced off areas were they had some young Pines growing. Great trip and thanks to all! |
