| no partners | | I really enjoyed this hike. It reminded me a little of Escudilla. (It will be a long time before we can hike Escudilla again--it was pretty well torched in the Wallow Fire.) This hike has the great views, and the gradual climb, which is easier on my knees. I liked this better than any other Flagstaff hike I have done. More remote, better views, not so popular, etc.
There were few hikers today. I started late, and when I was almost to the summit the fire tower person was leaving for the weekend, along with the last of the hikers. (I saw a total of 8 other hikers, plus the fire tower person.)
I liked the "patio" up by the fire tower. If I worked there, I'd be sleeping out there on windless nights. I suspect that a week ago it would not have been too pleasant, though, what with the crazy wind we were having. |
