| no partners | | | Hiked this route on a last minute whim. Loaded up my pack and my dog and left the house at 11:30am. I arrived at the bridge on Road 112 at 1pm. Started my hike up the Six. Crackles of thunder could be heard all around me, but skies above always looked blue. I decided that as along as it was blue above me, I would continue. At about 5800 feet I heard the loudest clap of thunder. Still blue skies overhead. What ever was going on, seemed to be going on around me. Soon the storm moved on and the thunder claps faded away. I continued on to 7000 feet which took longer than anticipated. Once you get to about 6950 the trail drops into the 6800's then levels out for a long stretch. Finally, the trail started to climb once again and my legs were aching for a return to the flats. I was getting low on water but knew of the spring at top. Reached the spring and filled up with cool water. Aaahhh! Topped out at 7500 feet in a stand of aspen before turning around and heading back down. This was a great escape from the muggy 100+ valley temp. |

| This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee. |
