| partners | | after leaving one vehicle up at the six-shooter trailhead, we parked the other at the icehouse ccc picnic area and hiked up the icehouse canyon "trail." the trail was actually a jeep road for the majority of the way up. this made it a more even grade, but i didn't really start to have fun until we hit the fall color  , just about at the junction with phoneline, and at the end of the jeep road portion. i can say one thing about this trail - lots of cows have been on it. all the way up, too, if you get my drift - cow poo everywhere.
we then decided to go over to signal peak to bag another lookout tower, and another peak, before heading to pinal peak, which is just ever so slightly higher. we went down six shooter trail, which actually had more color for the majority of the trail, but i was just wanting to get back to the cars, and the light was not optimum, so i didn't take as many pictures. i'm also not thrilled whenever i have to go uphill on the way down from a peak. "more up?," i kept on asking, along with the ever-present "are we there yet?" the downhill sections were quite steep, though, so i'm very happy we didn't go up this way.
all-in-all a good hike, with good company. we only saw one other hiker on the icehouse trail, and no one on six-shooter. i found this to be amazing with all this beautiful fall color so close to home (tucson or phoenix). we camped out at pioneer pass, and on our way down the next day, i did spot one vehicle at the six shooter trailhead. we topped off the weekend with lunch at la casita cafe in lovely downtown globe. |

| | | hard to say since the spring was all piped downhill how much was coming out, but the water was nice and clear in the full spring box, save a few fall leaves. | | _____________________
