| no partners | | Went out with the intention to hike the Barks Lower Canyon Loop this morning. I have never gone up Cardiac Hill or been in that direction at all. Looked like a simple 4 mile hike to take my friend on. She was a little nervous (not a hiker) about being out in the wilderness with critters or unsavory humans! I didn't help her fears much by getting us lost! Well, not lost. I told her, "I don't know where I am going but I know where I have been!" I do own and use a GPS So we made it to Barks Canyon....pretty sure. But we crossed it and followed a trail going Northeast (apparently did not pay attention to what I had read about going South). When I saw Weaver's Needle, I assumed I had gone the wrong direction in the creek bed. Went further anyway! What the heck! I was out for adventure! We kept climbing up the other side beyond the creek bed until we topped out and saw that the trail was continuing in what I knew by then to be the wrong way. To make a long story short (too late) I came home and wasn't sure which hike description to post this on. I could have marked a waypoint at the spot we turned around (made it an out and back) but that would have made sense! I did have a few others that I saved to look on the online topo maps just to make sure we were in the right mountain range! Ha ha! If anyone looks at my pictures and recognizes where we were and I am totally off, please let me know! |
