| no partners | | Started at the Ballantine TH hiked up to the saddle next to Pine Mountain overlooking the Cline TH. I didn't have enough water to go down to the Cline trailhead and back. After Boulder Flats and the corral the trail becomes overgrown with catclaw, live oak, and manzanita. Once you get up into the pines the underbrush thins out, but there is quite a bit of deadfall to overcome. All this makes trail finding a challenge and long pants a necessity. The hike though is very scenic beginning with saguaros and boulders and ending up in the tall pines. Lots of elk sign once you get near the pines. Saw some bear scat too. |
