| partners | | Dean and I picked the perfect day for a quick trip up to Sedona. We started off hiking Secret Canyon and about two miles in I said to Dean, "man it's a good thing I brought my water, it's kind of warm out here". Then a quarter mile later we make a turn and what do we see? A small patch of snow, then some more, and some more. As we continued we went into a completely different micro-climate. It was the coolest thing! The river had ice on top, there were icecicles and it was like you just went from a warm desert climate to a winter wonderland. Really weird but awesome at the same time.
We hiked to around the 4 mile point and then turned back. All in all this was just a great hike! The one thing that needs to be noted if you plan on doing this one is: you either need to walk about 3 miles each way down Vultee Arch road to get to the trailhead, or you need to have a high clearance vehicle as the road is VERY rocky. Oh yeah I have one of those now and it did GREAT! |
