| no partners | | Organizing and setting up some DVD's to print photos from and ran across this one. I was on my way to Globe I think; going by the Ray pit when I decided to bail out of the car and run up this shallow narrow mud slot. The slot wasn't that great, the rocks etc were cool but what made it weird and memorable was this turkey vulture. I heard a noise coming from a cleft in the rock face as I was hiking up the slot. I looked in the dark void, didn't see anything, and went on. On the way back again heard a noise and stood up on tippy toe to look in. Once my eyes accommodated here was this vulture in the back of this hole. I don't know anything about vultures; I didn't see a nest and wondered if it was hurt or something. It rustled around as I took several pictures with the flash but that was it. A little farther on found the Javelina remains. Quick jaunt and back in the car to get to Globe. One of those little gems.
I did some quick research, it appears it may have been in it's nest. Hope I didn't disturb it too much. |
