When I finished getting my pack ready this morning, all I could do is laugh. I wanted to take a few treats along for the Crew, not only for joining me on this hike, but also because it was New Year's Day. I purposely had purchased a slightly bigger pack so I could use it for an overnighter as well. Well this trip was not an overnighter, but you certainly would have thought so, looking at the pack. I should have weighed it before I left, but I thought I was running late so I didn't take the time. I figured the extra 100 lbs would be good for me, get me used to the kind of weight I would carry on a Backpacking Trip. :o  Bill and Wendi had to cancel last minute as Wendi came down ill. We missed you guys, hope you're doing better Wendi...

Met Gabriele, Jennifer and Devin at the TH and got started. I pretty much knew right away that I was way out of my league with this Crew so after they stopped for the umpteenth time to let me catch up, I told them to go ahead and do the pace they were comfortable with and I would just keep plugging along, so that's what we did, and it worked out great. I pushed myself probably more than normal because I didn't want them to have to wait for me too long at the top, but that was good for me too.

About 1/2 way, I hear someone behind me and hear my name. I look and John is zipping up the trail towards me. Very cool, we get the introductions out of the way and then he points to this madman down in the canyon who is basically headed straight up. John didn't even have to tell me who it was, I already knew, it had to be Bob. I told John I'd be up top in a little while and if he and Bob waited, I'd have some treats for them. John thought that sounded good, hit the afterburners and disappeared...

I'm getting fairly close to the top and hear my name. I see Bob up ahead coming down. I figured he was either tired of waiting or he was getting very thirsty. :D Turns out he was just being a nice guy and came down to keep me company for the last small push to the Summit. He even offered to carry my pack for me, :kf: but I decided that since I was the idiot for packing it, I ought to be the idiot to carry it. ;)

Finally made the Summit to find everyone taking a nap...JK  Had a little party, checked for mail, wrote in the Summit Log, took some Pictures, and watched John and Bob head north across the top to exit down the East side. The rest of the Crew decided to go watch, but I decided to stay behind and meet them down the first slope in a little while. Took some more Pictures, had an Oxygen Stick, and then packed up and headed down. Met up with the original crew and started the descent. Did really well descending, especially with an overloaded pack, definitely had to keep my weight back heading down. That worked well since the only time I fell, it was on my pumpkin. ;)

About 1/2 down, this guy shows up on the rock above us. I was thinking to myself, "self, is this guy on some kind of speed or something?" No, it was just Bob. He hadn't done enough yet, so he decided to join us the rest of the way down. 8) We made good time on the way down and everybody was in one piece back at the TH. :y:

Loved this Hike. Will definitely do this one again. Need better Pictures anyway, very disappointed with this Photoset, deleted about 1/2 of the pics I took. Possible camera malfunction, operator error or operator just had too much to drink, not sure. :D

Thank you to everyone that joined me for this hike, you guys were all awesome, will hike with any of you any time you're feeling patient.... :) Hope you all had a great New Year, I know I did. :thanx:
