While the road apparently goes past on the map, it does not do so in reality. We got out, met up with our friends who had parked elsewhere, and wandered up and down the river while dodging ATVs/Rhinos/stray dogs. Picked up some trash (beer cans, bullet casings), left other trash alone (tampon applicators, toilet paper). Pretty area, overall. The night before was beautiful, but the wind picked up in the morning and was still going strong at noon. We broke camp, intending to hike around the boulders off of the Kelvin highway, but our friends talked us into going all the way to Kelvin and hiking a stretch of the AZT. |
