| no partners | | | Drove out to the Black Hills for some rockhounding and to collect lava rock for a yard project. Arrived at the rockhound area to see that the Black Hills have turned into the Golden Hills with poppies covering many of the hillsides! Did not plan on hiking today, but after seeing the flowers, I decided on a short hike up the rockhound trail for some photography. After my hike I spend a couple of hours filling up the bed of my truck with lava rock and my pockets with fire agate before leaving the collecting site and driving up Hwy 191 to check on the flower status through the pass. This whole area is on the verge of a color explosion and a return trip will be made soon! |
