| no partners | | Whew! The drive just to get to the trailhead on this one took as much out of me as the first two climbs of the day. Yes, there was a lot of physical effort, but it was every bit a mental strain due to random loose terrain as well as numerous sections of exposure along the way. So it was actually a relief to be climbing.
Although 106 degrees, at least I had low humidity and a stiff breeze so it was nothing like the 120+ inside the car.
Since I as able to drive so close, the climb was very short and I reached the summit in 11 minutes. The view was awesome so I spent plenty of time wandering back and forth taking photos and shooting a 2-minute 360-degree panorama video. At full zoom I could see part of the Arizona Trail #16 well east of Martinez Canyon. After time for a short snack with the dreaded drive back down followed by another hour more of driving in the heat I decided it was time to head back. |
