| no partners | | With much of Tonto National Forest closed I turned my attention to summit-bagging in the Mineral Mountain Quandrangle. My quest is to summit as many peaks of 300'+ prominence as I can with just my limited climbing skills...
Limited mainly by a fear of heights.
I began the day with a plan to summit at least three of six peaks along Telegraph Canyon Road. With two 'definites' and four 'possibles' it would be a matter of climbing them in order, skipping any that would require more planning or more than the 1-2 hours I had alloted for each. Peak 3464 was the first one along the road and a definite, so I was off and climbing early. I should have completed this one in less than an hour but due to dawdling/wandering and the fact the actual summit was almost 1/2 mile across the ridge it took just over 2 hours.
While on the summit I scanned the terrain of the nearby peaks and realized that Peak 3950, the next one on my list, was the scene of a 208-acre fire within the last few weeks. Hmmm... seems like I remember hearing something about it. Whatever, it was no longer burning but it may affect the route I take on it, or even whether I climb it or not. (After an hour of recon back-and-forth along the road, I would climb it)
I'll post a few dozen photos on here HAZ with the full set of 35 photos here:
