| no partners | | My two brothers were going fishing in Chevelon Creek so I joined them to get some hiking in. After a beautiful night sleeping under the stars we headed down the trail bright and early. Me being slower than them I quickly had the trail to myself. It started off descending through the trees then emerged onto the side of the canyon and changed into some swichbacks. While there were no trees blocking the trail as described, the rocks and slippery soil made careful footing required. After a long straightway the trail turns and follows the curve of a side canyon. You are immediately back among the trees with shade and a leaf covered trail to greet you. After descending the trail straightens out some and you enter a clearing with the creek bubbling in front of you. I explored the trail to the left but it soon ran out at the creek and it was not in my plans to go rock hopping to go further. So I went back to the clearing and rested up for the trip back up My brothers went on to the right were they found the pools with the fish. Next time I hope to explore that way myself. After an hour of resting I made my way back up. I enjoyed waching the butterflies and looking at the pretty orange flowers. Spent the rest of the morning waiting for my brothers, sitting in the shade and watching the clouds gather. Another grat day out in the wilds of Arizona! |
